Do some of you really have Cobra's

    Hi,

I'm new to this site, some really nice pics on here. I have no experience with venomous snakes but was just wondering a few things.

    1. Do you have to have a special license to keep them. If so what do you do to get one. I know that it is different for each country etc but just wondering who here has licenses etc

    2. How do you do general maintenance with these, like feeding, watering and cleaning. Do you take them out of their cages?

    3. What housing arrangements would you need for these snakes.

    4. And if anyone has any pics of their cobras could you post them please, Id love to see them

    Thanks

    Dave

you need a specific permit for exotic venomous although some states dont permit them.
2- i hook my adults (monacleds) quite often and have no problems.
3- i have no idea of the brand of mine but you need a specific cage that is heavily locked to prevent escape.

4- ive got a pic of a baby albino monacled laying around... ill edit my post and put it in

edit- heres a link to a couple for sale

that link is strictly for the picture... i would never sell a cobra to someone that isnt experienced.

thanks uro1001 that pic is great

I knew the link was just for the pic, no one with experience would try sell to someone without.
I think the cobras look great but I wouldn't get any, well not yet anyway, maybe after reading more about them and going to vist an experienced keeper for advise for a long time.

Im gonna stick to no venomous snakes for now

i dont know some venomous species of snake are very beautifu l but i would never buy one i would be too tempted to take it out all the time and my dumb ass would end up getting bit. they are very beautiful though.

Re: Do some of you really have Cobra's

You know that's something I've often wondered about when people keep hots. Do you have to keep the specific anti-venom in your home to accompany you to the hospital? I wouldn't think just any regular ER has a wide variety of anti-venoms for the variety of hots available on the market.

We used to live in Michigan. I always thought it incredibly odd that MI has rules up the ying yang with regards to things like wolf-dog crosses but you can buy a gaboon viper off the internet and keep it without any permit needed at all (at least where I lived in northern MI you could).
