Donating to a Raptor Recovery!!!
I just figured with all my extra rats and mice I have that are too small for anything I have now, I would make a donation to a local raptor recovery. I found a very nice lady with a few Education Raptors that she is working with and told her I would be willing to drop some frozen mice and rats off for bird food.
I'll probably head out there within the week to drop them off. I'll get lots of pics of the birds if she lets me. I am so excited!!!
Has anyone ever done anything like this?
I feel its a great way to get some of my extra rodents out of the house and go to a good cause at the same time. Its a Win-Win Situation for everyone!!

Re: Donating to a Raptor Recovery!!!
yes i have. i donated my mice to an owl sanctuary. they would use two live mice to test the eagles, falcons and owls before releasing them back into the wild.
it was a great feeling... knowing i was assisting nature!

Thanks! I have about 100 mice and rats that I no longer need and when my mouse colony gets started, I figure I can set quite a few in the freezer on my new "Raptor" shelf!! I'm just excited to be able to see the animals I am getting to help. Its well worth the 20-30$ I may have spent on the rodent knowing they are going to a good cause.

Re: Donating to a Raptor Recovery!!!
The raptor rehab program I volunteered with used a lot of donated stuff...we used lab mice who were no longer suitable for research (but only if they'd never been tested with chemicals) as well as a lot of baby chicks and adult layers from the nearby poultry farms and research facilites and some quail from the game farm.
We'd also pick up fresh roadkill squirrels for the eagles...those big boys loved squirrel.
It's definitely a great way to help out!
