Re: blues ?
Let's test my skills
I believe the first one with more white on the belly would be a blue berkie, and the other one with just a little on it's chest would be a blue irish!
They're awfully adorable! I love the blues!

Handy little link for you....

I think from the pictures they are American Blues not the darker more steel colored Russian Blues but hard to say in a photo really and since Blue rats bred with other colors produce so many shades of Blue it gets really confusing fast LOL. The first one looks to be a Berkie and they should have those little white feet. The second could be an Irish or an English Irish (I can never really get the difference LOL). They are both cute though! Congrats on the new breeding stock for your colony. Blue is a simple recessive so a bit of line breeding will get you a nice group of them (unless those are male and female and not both females).

Re: blues ?
thanks yall .
joanna , i have that site bookmarked already along with several other rat sites ,but thank you all the same the second one pictored is closer to an english irish going by the discription , but she doesnt have any white on her hind feet . they are both definately females so once they start breeding , i might pull a male from one and a couple females from the other to eventually put together . my hopes are to eventually get some blue rex dumbos somewhere down the line .

Re: blues ?
Yep it is a handy site. Our breeder/feeder colonies aren't ever likely to exactly match the markings/colors of show/fancy quality rats but it's a handy guideline nonetheless. Blue dumbo rexes would be very cute....too darn cute to feed off but might make a nice sideline selling them for pretty pets.
