Snake's hissing at himself
My snake's latest hobby is to climb on top of his branch, look at the screen lid, hiss a few times, and climb back down. Each hissing session is about 10 minutes at the most. He doesn't draw back or bite at the lid. He is extremely docile, in good health, and his tank temps and humidity are perfect. So.... what's with the hissing?

Re: Snake's hissing at himself
As long as it's hissing and not some sort of funky whistling when he breathes then he's likely just being him. We have one male BP here that always hisses whenever you disturb him or mess about in his home. Never bites, is a really nice big guy and pretty laid back but he's a "talker", always has been since he was a baby.
If you are worried he's doing this due to stress you could try adding a lot of scrunched up newspaper to his enclosure. It's not pretty but it's very effective in helping snakes feel safe and not exposed at all when they come out of the hides. Just slowly remove a bit of newspaper over many weeks to allow him to adjust if you decide to try this.

Ok, well, he's about as laid back as a snake could be. Nothing to worry about then. Thanks for the help!

Or maybe every time he goes up there, he is trying to confess his love to you, but seeing you just looking worriedly at him and he just cannot get his point across, his feelings are heart and loses interests untill the next time he feels he JUST HAS TO tell you how much he cares for you lol
