Rat Hatchlings!!!!
I have hatched out my first snakey clutch.. three so far, a few more stragglers that I am still waiting for. Here they be!! The parents were both yellow rat snakes. I am still amazed that these long little buggers came out of those eggs! There are two so far who have not come out yet but have pipped the egg.. two eggs that are still doing nothing yet, and a few molded/indented, don't know what'll happen.

Re: Rat Hatchlings!!!!
Congrats Jen! So what was the incubation time on them? (seems like forever ago that you got 'em ) What temp did you end up incubating at? Be sure to post more pics when they're all out!

Re: Rat Hatchlings!!!!
lol Jo.. I actually incubated them at room temperature. They were in a warm part of the dining/herp room, and never went below 75 degrees. I will have to look back, but if I am correct, their lay date was sept. 16th.
The parents were both normal yellow coloration; I am assuming these guys will change over to that coloration.. I am not sure about keeping one though; wanna focus on my BPs pretty much.

Re: Rat Hatchlings!!!!
How are their temperments? The black rats we hatched from eggs someone brought us were very very agressive. Also, i know that black rats do change color as they mature. The babies look similar to that but as adults they will be almost solid black, so they'll probably change as they mature. We have a few yellow rats I could post some pictures of if you're not very familiar with what they look like as adults. I hope the rest of them hatch for you and that they all eat.

They look good. I had thought that the entire clutch had gone bad from a previous post. I guess I was mistaken

They seem pretty lukewarm; they're reactive when you put a hand near them, but they don't strike. When should I attempt feeding? I am going to have a rip of a time getting mouse pinkies..
They were from my friend's YR pair; sadly, the female escaped shortly after laying these, but he could very well possibly be living in her store. I am going to have to find homes for them, because if I take them back to the store, I know that deadbeats will buy them and return them in a month dehydrated and thin.. I will possibly be posting them on here, but still getting the shipping figured out.. my friend is able to ship DHL, has anyone ever done this?
Schlyne, some of the eggs did go bad, but there are still two more that are nice and round (think they're slow developers, but they look ready to burst!) And two more who have slit their eggs, but are NOT coming out yet!
