    Ordering Rats Online

I was thinking about ordering rats online in bulk, Frozen, But i am not sure if they can go bad in the freezer, or get freezer burn, Can they? If so, how long is it okay for them to stay in the freezer?

    Thanks!

    Re: Ordering Rats Online

I've had some rats vacume packed over a year and feed them with no problems. I would order from a company that vacume packs theirs. Rodent Pro is one of the companies that DOES NOT vacume pack their rodents!

If you are ordering a short term order, then rodentpto is fine. I got some rabbits and rats for one of my BCI's a few months ago and they are fine. They came nicely packed and were clean rodents. I will be trying micedirect this time and hope for the same quality

    Re: Ordering Rats Online

Rodents can get freezer burn. I have had to run into one of the local pet stores before to get a pinky and I think I sorted through them for 15 minutes before I found one that was not feezer burnt I usually buy my rats so that I have a couple months worth at a time, so I never see freezer burn.

And of course, you can always vacuum pack them yourself, if you decide to go ahead and buy the machine and the bags.

Just FYI...freezer burn does not make the prey inedible. It may make it smell funny to the snake and possibly cause a refusal...but if a snake eats freezer burned food, it won't hurt it.

When we fed f/t we went with The Mouse Factory. Amazing customer service, great product and packed as well as I've ever seen a living animal packed for shipping. Give Edna a call, explain what you are looking for in your first f/t order and she'll walk you through what you need and how to get the best bang for your f/t frozen feeder shopping buck.

Sounds good. You usually get a discount on anything over 100 so best to buy in bulk if you can.
