Where are all of the Siamese Rats?

I've been searching for Siamese or Himi rats for about 6 months now; with NONE to be found Does anyone have any pics to give me my Siamese fix? If anyone in NC has any Siamese or Himis they are willing to part with, I'd be THRILLED!!! I'm in Raleigh, NC. Photos posted here might curb my cravings!!

    Thanks!!!

Re: Where are all of the Siamese Rats?

This is the only Siamese in our collection and she's barely one LOL. She has only the smudge of color on her nose but since I've read that the color comes out more if the rats are kept in a cooler environment that may explain it (our rat room is toasty warm).

I have no idea how to produce a Siamese and since Smudge is currently just had her first litter with us I haven't been able to tell if she's produced any Siamese offspring yet.

I don't have any current pics of my Himalayan (I believe its a Himalayan and not a Siamese) but in her first litter I didn't get any like her. She is ready to give birth any day now so we'll see what happens this time with a different male as the father.

that is one of mine (pointer)--she is the daughter of my original siamese. i don't know what makes them either exactly, but powder puff (pointer's mom) and pointer have both produced them when bred to non-siamese males. i have 2 more siamese females i'm growing up now to use as breeders.

p.s. tammy, if you are ever down toward savannah i'd be more than happy to send a few siamese babies home with you!

I found a siamese at petsmart.. they don't normally have those! I got him and now I've got lots and lots of siamese. I'd give you one if you were close.

The thing about siamese is their pigment is temperature sensitive. The pigment only shows up on the coldest parts of the body (nose, feet, and butt) ..and the cooler the room they are kept in, the darker the color.

    mlededee,

You're only about 4 hours away from me Now how do I convince my "I hate rats" hubby that 4 hours is nothing for a Siamese? I've also got a good friend in Sav. - may need a road trip!! If you're serious, I'll send you an e-mail or PM when I get things arranged. Probably won't be too soon tho

Re: Where are all of the Siamese Rats?

i am absolutely serious. just send me a note when/if you do make it this way and we can work out the details. if you can give advance notice that is always best of course, so i can hold back a few ratties for you and make sure they will be weaned and ready to go when you get here.

True siamese have a lot more brown than Himi's (Himalayans) do. Siamese bred to a regular albino will produces all Himi's. The gene is simple rescessive.

mlededee has the only true Siamese posted so far. I need some recent pics of mine.
