    My rodent room***PICS***

Here is my old room. This was when I first started breeding. I quickly realized this was a big big mistake. Never try to breed numbers indoors you'll pay

I quickly out grew the extra room in the house and moved to the garage. This setup has worked out great but I'm out growing it too. I'm looking for barn somewhere close. Hopefully I'll be in my new place by summer.

    Here is another view.

You can't see from the pics but I have another wall of mommy racks and a huge holder bin that are against the other side.

I stopped calling it my ratroom when I started breeding mice, gerbils and african softfurs. Now it's a rodent room.

    Looks nice.

You must have quite a number of snakes to feed.

Dude, that many racks with water bottles? I would lose my mind. I got rid of water bottles and food bowls after 4 tubs. Its just not feasible. Automatic watering and food hoppers are the way to go!

Ya I messed up when I first built these racks (awhile ago) and didn't leave any room for the tubs to side in and out with the sippers installed. The holder bins and the other mommy birthing racks all have auto watering. They all do have food hoppers. I'm slowly trying to convert the other racks over but they'll most likely have to be rebuilt which is a drag.

A friend of mine had a similar problem when he switched over to Edstrom valves, but came up with a novel idea. (This would be a lot easier to explain with pictures, but try to follow me) He cut about 3" square blocks of wood from 1x4s, drilled about 1.5-2" holes in the center of them, attached hardware cloth to them and mounted them (with the hardware cloth on the top side) on top of the original hardware cloth. Then he cut out the 1.5-2" hole in the original hardware cloth and mounted the sipper valves to the new hardware cloth on top of the wooden block. This way the valves don't stick into the tubs, and they can be pulled out all they with no problems. Did that make sense? If not I'll see if I can get some pictures from him.

Observations: Tubbed racks are too far apart, you can compress them down closer together and fit more in Also if you stack everything to the ceiling more room

I also made the mistake of starting indoors, YUCK!

I know what you are saying about building the racks and not leaving room for the water valves, BUT, I found a way around this with no real work...

Just attach the valves in one front corner of the tub... when you slide the tub out 90% of the way, you just rotate it and the opposite corner comes free, and then you can drop it off without it being an issue.. I've done this for all of my current setups and it works fine... you really don't want to space it out anymore than flush anyway because the rats will be able to get their noses around and bite bite the tubs

Im busy at work so if the above doesn't make sense because I just typed it straight out without re-reading it, just give me a pm
