What do you do with your rat bedding/waste?

For some reason I wanted to ask this question and kept forgetting to, my wife just reminded me .

We have so much pine and poop each week it is crazy. What does everyone else with a decent amount of waste, do with it each week?

If we only had a little bit, we would compost, but we probably have 5-6 large black trash bags fairly full (50 gallon, but tied down a ways so probably 30 gallons)

    Thanks!

Re: What do you do with your rat bedding/waste?

I toss it out back in the compost/manure area. It seems to gradually disperse, but then again when there is a lot, I sometimes just toss it up with the trash at the curb in bags. I tried burning it in the firepit once; NOT good! It killed the fire, smelled wretched, and is too moist to burn unless you plan on using dangerous, explosive materials.

I throw it out in big black bags weekly.

During the winter, I throw it away....

during warmer months, I use it at the base of any outside plants...

So Im guessing with 150-180 gallons weekly my best bet is just tossing it out in the garbage?

Im wondering when the garbage men will start getting very angry

Just staple a few $10 bills to the bags...you'll be good to go.

I throw most of it out in the compost heap in my backyard or in the side garden and in the warmer months I throw it in the heap in the woods where all the neighbors dump clippings, etc.

Contact your local freecycle or craigslist to give it away as mulch. That might get rid of a lot.
As a alternative, call your local zoo, and find out what they do with theirs.
I have a local farm that wants mine as mulch.

See you are one of those bad bad neighbors i knew it .Heck we pay for our garbage pickup and i am sure the guys know whats in that black smelly can every week .If you are paying for trash pickup and your cans are not real heavy they have to take it.
