    Question beardie "hibernating"?

    hello i have a beardie that it aprox. 10 months old and i live in wisconsin... its been getting colder latley and i find that even tho the temps are staying the same... i find my beardie is sleeping during the day and is almost impossible to wake up... hes never done this before and i talked to a friend i have that works with me who as alot of reptiles and he said that he may be just hibernating because of the weather change i was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them or any advice anyone could give me...

    My dragons do this also. They are going through winter shut down. It may or may not be good for your dragon depending on if he/she has good weight on now. Going through winter shut down you may observe some wieght loss also. Some is OK< but alot is not good. If you increase your light cycle to 12 on 12 off, it may help to decrease the shut down you seem to be seeing at this time, however, I do not think you will get rid of it till the weather is better. Continue to feed during this time, your dragon will wake at some point and eat on its own, amounts consumes may go slightly down from what is normal for your bearded.

    Yep as Jeanne said its perfectly normal and can start at about 10months of age. Its called Brumation, beardies do it alot, many of the Aussie lizards do infact, my water dragon is doing it right now rather anoying as I can interact with him right now.

    thank you guys for your help the little guy had me worried... he is almost exactly 10 months of age to... i guess i'm just gonna have to settle with watching him sleep and take my ball python out instead
