Tokay ? kinda odd.. but ya..

    hi,
this is gonna sound odd, but the guy that runs the local texico (thats right) is turning spare room ther into a getto pet store.. mostly fist at first but now he has tokay, tanzinean (sp?) day gecos. and a few other lizards.

he keeps them in wide open 10gallon tanks with just a water bowl, some wood chips, and crickets.

    is that horrible?

i love tokays, and i def want one soon.. but for now alls i can do is watch out for them lol. so should this gecko be treated better?
its also super hateful you cant get near the glass.

im pretty shure it dosent have heat either..
this goes for most of the lizards there.. not much more to say..

just wanted to blurt it out and see what people had to say..

I do not have any direct experience with tokays, so I'd advise checking out the caresheet and googling around as well.

That's at least a place to start. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

That tokay is going to get super stressed kept like that they need plenty of hides branchs etc and they need a tall arboreal tank, Tokay geckos should be kept in a relative cage temperature of 85° to 90° F during the day and can drop to about 10/15 degrees at night and humidity should be around 70% to 90% and should not drop below 50% , show that guy some caresheets on tokays and whatever else he is keeping.

also tell that guy that tokays hardly ever drink from a water bowl, they have to be misted as they drink the droplets left on the sides of the enclosures. tell him to put as many hides logs etc in with it as he possibly can too

a 40 gal is fine for one or two tokays but bigger is always better.
