Rescue: Sulcata Tortoise (Geochelone Sulcata)

Let me introduce the beautiful new five year old female Sulcata:

She was bought at a petstore five years ago, the new owner was handed a "care sheet". She then bought a heat rock an aquarium and salad. Sadly she did not do her research before purchasing this animal. Many times the petstore won't tell you what you REALLY need to know. Ecspecially when you are about to purchase the 3rd largest species of tortoise in the world.
This girl is still small:

A Sulcata can grow from a palm sized baby into a 40lb sub adult within it’s first 15 years.
Sadly with her size and Pyramiding she is small for her age. We are in high hopes that she will be growing steadily once put on the correct diet and with the right husbandry.

Our cat Lunch has a thing for the tortoises. I'm not fond of species mixing, but he is a nosey boy when it comes to the turtles and tortoises.

If things work out for her let me know. I have been wanting to adopt a sulcatta for over a year. One of our other tortoises is having his diet watched very close due to extreme pyramiding from improper diet. As soon as we move [soon I hope] we will be building lrg. enclosures for indoor and out. If there is anything you can tell me about as far as supplements to help it would be a big help with my yellow foot. His shell is sunk in to a depth of over an 1 1/2 on under side. It can never be fixed , but hopefully he will live a long life.

Thank you for your kind words. I will show some shots of "Speedbump" our resident Redfoot. She has some of the worst pyramiding I've seen in person. It can never be fixed as you said, but the correct diet will help it not to happen anymore. Also make sure your UV bulbs are in tip top shape. Remember most UV bulbs that we've tested (almost every kind on the market) do not penetrate more then a few inches. I'll start another thread soon.
Maybe it will have better info for you. By the way Nancy, your yellow is beautiful.
