    Arrow How big do monitors grow to be?

    I have seen a lot of people constantly talking about monitors outgrowing there tanks... (even a 90gl!?!?) How big could these little guys get???

    depends on the species. varanus komodensis can grow to 9 feet while varanus brevicauda are 8-10 inches.

    that is like saying how big do dogs get. it is a broad answer. i have a water monitor that will hit 8-9 ft and be about 160 lbs. he will need a cage that is about 15 to 18 ft X7 to 9 ft.

    As said above monitors are a varied group of lizards. The popular ackie (varanus acanthurus) only grows around 2' long and can live in a 3-4' cage.. of course the komodo dragon is not a pet species, but I've seen water monitors that were close to 100 lbs and 7'.
