new BP owner and have a few questions!!!

hey guys this is my first snake , and i have 2 questions on my mind that i cant seem to find the answers to.

    1) my BP is 2 yrs old, about 3 1/2 feet long , the breeder i bought him from says he feed's him every week. my question is, what size mouse should i feed him and is it ok to start feeding him every 2 weeks?

    2) MY ROOMATE!!! he is a DJ, and i have herd that snakes are sensitive to vibrations, could vibrations from his room which is right next to mine cause my BP any harm or be hurting him in anyway?

    Thanks guys

First answer,no feed your snake every 5 to 7 days of the correct size rodent(ask the breeder what it was eating).Second answer, yes snakes are sensitive to loud noises. It could become to stressed out and refuse to eat.If you have any other questions ask away

    Hello apssti

As Joe said, every 5-7 days should work. Some get in the habit of feeding weekly. General rule of thumb is to feed slightly larger than the girth (size around) of your snake. If you see a little lump after he has eaten, then

Also, please be careful with the noisyness. the vibrations could annoy your little one and could cause problems. Does your roommy not use headphones?

Re: new BP owner and have a few questions!!!

I disagree, every 5 days for an adult bp seems a bit much to me. I would be think more 7-10 days myself. The important thing would be to establish a routine. As for size of mouse... I would think a jumbo mouse would be no problem. Maybe a couple smaller mice would work as well. I would ask the breeder what he was feeding, and continue with that for awhile. If that seems insufficient then increase after the routine is established.

As for the vibration... It's possible it could stress your bp. I'd try and keep him as far from the connection room as possible, and not on the floor.

Just purley for knowledge why is every 5 days not recommended for a ball that size? And what are the potential side effects of feeding it that much?

Feeding that frequently will most likely lead to no feeding at all. Ball pythons have rather slow metabolisms, so feeding meals slightly smaller than the width of the snake once every week will generally give your a more consistant feeder. Ball pythons are great at accounting for overfeeding. Some snakes will just continue to eat.....ball pythons just go off feed for a few months
