I don't know about moss. I use aspen and it's not that hard to keep the humidity up. Actually, sometimes I have trouble with getting the humidity down!!! LOL.

Just get a spray bottle and mist the tub whenever the humidity goes down. For a humid hide, I use a little Glad food tub that has moist paper towels under it.

My trouble is that I don't want to make his humid hide... TO HUMID! Know what I'm saying? I guess I could use granite hides for her normal hides and use a smaller rubbermaid for her humid hide with either moss or paper towels. Again though I don'

Well, it doesnt really matter how humid it is (I think), because they usually use it when they are about to shed. You cant tell if the hide is too humid because you can't measure it. Unless you stick an Accurite in there which would take up most of the space. Lol.

Should I keep the humid hide out of the terrarium until she is about to shed?

Re: Big Scare! (blood python pics)

just an alternative but I never use humid hides. I never have bad sheds as long as I maintain around the 60% , when its shed time I spray more to raise it to around 80% and works fine.

so my point is you dont really need a humid hide if your tank is humid enough these humid hides are best used when the tank is truggling to maintain proper humidity.

    just my opinion mind.

Re: Big Scare! (blood python pics)

Nope, just leave it in there all the time, except for when cleaning. Also make sure you change the paper towels frequently.

EDIT: Yeah, you don't have to have a humid hide. BUT, If your snake sheds in alot of small peices, then you should think about one.

How can I produce humidity with newspaper substrate and a tub? Will the combination of a heat pad and a tub do it?
