Three people hold it? It sounds like its over weight then. I read that a lot of people over feed these kids. If it required three people... That's rediculous.

Tubs can be found at walmart. Like sterlite and rubbermaid. Just get one, with a digital thermometer, and a heating pad, with a dimmer,a few hides, a water bowl, some newspaper, and you're good to go. When you think he's ready to move, change into another tub. When they are bigger, you might want to buy a Plastic Cage, like boaphile.com.

Boaphile is the cheapest, but you could make your own.

You would need at least a 4 foot cage.

    Here is a tub.

Re: Big Scare! (blood python pics)

I read the NERD's caresheet for bloods and that picture makes it look easy to house. I currently have her in a 20gl tank but now im thinking about going with a tube! I have 70$ credit at Mr Petman so I will pick up a heating pad today. I will also goto lowes and purchase another Acu-Rite.

Questions: How are you letting air into that tube? I don't see holes.

It must be awsome for humidity?

EDIT: Oh and how much would a dimmer be? And can i get one from walmart?

There are some holes on the side that were drilled in. It's hard to see all the holes, but I promise, they have holes .

They are better than aquariums in everything but the way they look. Humidity is awesomein these tubs, and so is keeping the heat in.

no, no, NO! do NOT get a heat pad- unless its some sort of zoo-med which i wouldn't use those anyways, ive read they have a tendency to screw up. You're going to need some heat tape and a thermostat to control how hot the temperature gets. They can get up to 115 degrees and that is lethal. Drill holes into the Tub (if you ask for tubes online, no one will know what you're talking about) to release air. Yes, I will never keep a snake in a glass aquarium unless prehaps it was a Rubber Boa. My friend did that with crowley and he NEVER had a good shed.
Also- do NOT use a dimmer, they are unreliable. Only use a thermostat. MG Reptiles sells all this stuff online.

How much will a thermostat run me? Why is a dimmer unreliable? I have been reading care sheets and I believe I could handle her! Also won't the snake be able to push that top off of a tube?

Re: Big Scare! (blood python pics)

I don't see anything wrong with a reptile heating pad hooked up to a dimmer if you are using it temporarily. If you have the money though, get the thermostat, and I'm pretty sure if you can get a thermostat, a foot of Flexxwatt isn't going to make you broke. The snake can push the top off the tub when it gets bigger. That's why you are going to need a plastic cage or one that you built.

EDIT: If you are going to get a heat pad with a dimmer, check the temps in your snake's tub frequently to make sure everything is ok. Make sure to put the temp in a room where the temperature does not change much.
