    Snake I.D

    Can you id this snake?It was caught in my drive way, in Illipolis,Illionois, for all you that live in Illionois thats between Springfield and Decatur.We had the snake in that tank, when we came home it was gone.

    If i am correct it is a juvy black rat snake.I recently rescued one from someones yard and that was what he looked like.Are you in Illinois? If not you just commited a federal felony by removing that snake from Illinois.If you live in Illinois you can posses the snakes here but can not sell,trade or remove from Illinois.

    yes, i looked the snake i thought it was up in one of my herp books and it wasnt in your range.

    Yes , I do live in Illionois, i have never seen a snake like that before we caught it , and havent seen 1, since, the only snakes i catch around here a garter snakes,and at my uncles pond i almost caught an all brown snake like 5 feet long , he was slithering through the weeds, and i went to grab his tail, and went into tall stuff and couldnt find him

    Ok i was not trying to be rude just giving you the heads up on that .I live by East Peoria and we have them everywhere here lol. Here is a link to some of the native snakes of Illinois.The Eastern Massasauga and the Timber Rattlesnake are venomous and normaly in the southern section of Illinois and are protected by law.Now a few snakes are not on this page of which is the garters and the black rats of course. http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/educati...akegallery.htm
