    New Rescues

Today we got a call from the neighbor and she said they had some turtles and for me to come get them. Her family brought them down for her little girl (who I rescued the baby ball from) while they stayed there for a month and as soon as her family left she caled us to come get the turtles. They were in a 56 qt tub with only about 5 inches of VERY ditry water. Nothing for them to bask or get out of the water on. I moved them into a big tank and gave them some rocks and logs to climb out on and a nice basking area, which they havnt left the spot since I got them into the new tank. From the books ive been reading I think they are a pair, the smaller one has long claws and the big one has short and from what I read the males will have long claws and females will have short. Anywho here are a couple pics.

    Female (I think)

    Male

    Thanks for looking

You cant really tell from these pics but the one I thought was a male, his claws are about twice as long as the other one. Ill try to get some pics of their feet in a bit.

    Re: New Rescues

    Those are great looking RES's!

My sister has two that she bought several years ago when they were just little quarter-sized babies. Like many people, she had NO idea what she was getting into when she let her daughter pick out a couple of cute little "low maintenance" pets. But unlike most folks who do that, once she realized what she'd bitten off, she threw herself into learning how best to care for them and provide the best home she possibly could.

They thought they had a male and female, so her daughter named them Tom and Daisy. Turns out, Tom and Daisy are both boys. They're pretty big now...a good 10" or more from nose to tail. And the nails on those two boys are extremely obvious....VERY long...like an inch long on each little digit! It's really funny to watch them because they'll flicker these little "fans" in each other's faces.
