have you tried reading up on them before you've decided to get one?

they're not docile but they're way less proned to bite then any other monitor.

for an adult the minimum cage size is 3x2x2 feet, remember you'll need room for atleast a foot of dirt for burrowing.

for substrate you need plain dirt from outside. it needs to be able to hold a burrow. ive found the best dirt is in dry creek beds where the water has slowed down and dropped all the silt.

what subspecies you get is up to you. i personally think reds are more beautiful.

reds usually, but they're both about the same. they require the same cage size and everything so it doesnt really matter.

it doesnt really matter if they;re single or together. if you do put them in pair, trio, or group, be prepared to provide suitable nesting for the female (which can be hard) and proper diet for her as well.
