My Burms
Hi, I am new to the forums and am just posting some photos of my animals in their appropriate threads...
As far as giant pythons go, I keep a female albino Labyrinth Burm and a male Green/Patternless.

Re: My Burms
They are very beautiful! I love burms.
Have you considered the risks of keeping them together? ..such as disease/parasite transmission, stress caused due to one exerting dominance over the other (this can appear as them being 'friendly' or curling up together, when they are really just competing for the best spots in the cage) or even cannibalism.
It is generally said that one snake per cage is the best for the animal.. snakes are not social and were not made to live in close quarters with each other.
That said, they are gorgeous and look very healthy.

Re: My Burms
I suppose I am not fully aware of all the risks of keeping snakes together. I do it with almost all of my snakes... I keep my 3 young corns together, a couple baby balls together, the burms together, an adult pair of balls together, and my two young Columbian red tails together. I haven't had any problems as of yet, but I think I will consider more seriously a good way to set them all up in their own quarters.
The Burms competed like that a lot when I had them in a 55 gallon aquarium but they have since been moved to the equivalent of about a 200 gallon tank, and don't share the same spot often at all anymore, so hopefully that is at least a little better for them.
But thank you for the feedback and I am always eager to learn more to better care for my animals.

Re: My Burms
Beautiful snakes! Your male looks like he has such a sweet curious face and I love his color, just beautiful. I second Shelby on the seperate enclosures. If one gets sick, they all get sick, and the risks of cannibalism and stress are just not worth it.

Re: My Burms
Thanks for the input... most of my reptile knowledge comes from an exotic pet store I used to work at, and now that I don't work there anymore, the more I learn from other sources, the more I realise what a crummy (for lack of a more harsh word) job they are doing with their snakes.

Re: My Burms
Yeah, pet stores can feed you a lot of bad info and it seems to work at first glance.. but your animals will be healthier and happier (as happy as snakes can be anyway lol) if they have their own enclosure.
I'd worry especially about the corn snakes cannibalising.. colubrids are more apt to do it than boids, but I have seen pics of a red tail that had eaten his ball python cage mate.. then regurgitated him. Not charming.

Re: My Burms
Wow, a boa with a python, huh? I definately at least heard about not caging different families of snakes together, which is why I thought it was acceptable to keep the same species together.

Re: My Burms
It's apparent that you do your best to take great care of your snakes. They look awesome! It's always great to see someone willing to learn new and better ways of doing things.
