I was in my local reptile store yesterday and the guy there offered me a male hoggie (for breeding purposes with my female). A client had brought it in because she didn't want him anymore (probed and tested as a male by the reptile guy). I have no intention of getting it though it's cute, for one, I wouldn't just stick a new snake in with my current one without quarantine, and the other - this male is so small!!! I mean, I know females of snakes are larger than males, but this one could have bee no more than 18" at most and supposedly an adult and his girth is half hers. My female is 35" long and would eat him - indeed she has a history of literally trying to eat her partner at the place she was at before we got her - fortunately he hadn't been swalloed that far and they got him out and he lived to tell the tale. So are all male hognoses this small? (reptile guy assured me this was normal) - or is my female abnormally large?
