Pacific Gopher. Seems to be the most common snake around here. This guy was about 3.5 feet, and pretty friendly. I got him off the road and sent him on his way.

That was my second guess...LOL.....but I am at at disadvantage too.....I have never seen a gopher snake in person before I need to schedule a trip out west
