breeding size

Does anyone know what is a good size and weight to start to breed boas?I know they should be 3 to 4 years old.

I am wondering about redtail common,dumeril,hogg island,salmon,centrel,pastel,albino,sunglow,snow,anery,amazon tree,emerald tree,peruvian.

I don't know about the other boas, but I have been told that with redtails the female should be at least 20lbs. and 6' long.....and of course the male can be smaller.

a general rule of thumb is 4ft for males and at least two years.
and for fems 3 years old and about 5 ft.

one more thing. for all the other breeds of boas. the size can verry but stick with the age limits i gave in the previous post and you should be just peachy.

All snakes are difrent. You can't put an age or size on it to be exact. Just because a 14 year old human may be able to reproduce doesn't mean they should be. Don't take this wrong but you should really narrow down what you want to breed and research that. Saying some huge list of snakes tells us you are interested in breeding and thats great, but please do some research before asking such a question. Also, before you breed think about the following
-will you be able to feed 20+ snakes at one time(most of the snakes listed will make that many)
-Clean up after 20+ babies
-Properly house(perferably seperately) 20+ babies at proper temps and humidity at the same time?

Red tails of any kind are becoming more and more popular all the time for many reasons. The market is exanding and in that it makes it harder and harder to sell baby boas. The same thing as been happening to burms over the years until we are at a point like now where burms are available for under $100 and they are sold day after day in pet shops that don't educate people that buy them then later dump them off in the wild or some shelter

Haha, I think pork and fish are right, but it needs to be crossed over. My opinion is a female should be at least 3 years old. She should be at least 6ft and 18lbs. Males can breed as early as 1.5 years old...and the size doesn't matter. As long as they are interested...it's game. Males won't try unless they are ready. Also, from what I've heard from some successful boa breeders, the younger the males are the more "active" and "successful" they will be. Hormones at their best!!

Says who? How can something become more popular for many reasons and go lower in value? The market seems, to me anyways, to be growing WITH the demand for them. Now, they will never reach the popularity of the Ball Python; however, against all popular belief, they are much harder to breed than BPs...and they don't breed every year. Females will go two or three years in a row, but then not breed for 4 or 5 years straight. There is no schedule with this either.
