Neat little critter, but yeah, 3 years old? How long do they live? and how big do they get?

    Cute kid too, BTW!

Re: i finally found one.... a millipede!!!

yup three years old... and they get 11" full grown... live for 10 years.

that's why we didn't get a younger one... we wanted her to enjoy it now... now three years from now LOL

care is very simple: greens/veges. they live on bark mulch (i did a mix of fine and medium grades) dandelion greens are great for them all summer long... no cost in feeding them at all. you can stop feeding them for months and they'll do just fine.

IMO perfect pet for a kid. no worries if they forget about them now and then...

    she says it tickles LOTS

it feels very very cool. and when you want to pick it up it holds onto your skin... so it's kinda like velcro coming off!

I asked that question in another thread and this was the answer I got:

Howeever, the sure way to tell is to count back seven segments starting at the head...at the seventh segment, there will be a continuous pair of legs like the other segments for a female. On the male, there is an empty gap and no legs, but instead a folded pair of (cyphopods?? gynopods??) I forgot what they were called. It is most noticeable when the male is viewed from the side of if you can get him to stretch out when holding him and turn him over on his back for a quick peek. I actually caught him and my female gettin' it on once, but unfortunately lost him.... so was unable to have any baby millies.Still llokin for a new man for Onyx though......
    Fascinating stuff!

actually, perhaps it's just the kind we have... but when we were there - he showed us a male and a female... the male has a sperm sack at the end of his body underneath.
