Re: cooling?
Wow.....that's rough! I would suggest keeping the cage in a cool, shadowed area away from any widows or sunlight...but not too stuffy like inside a closed closet...someplace where air can circulate. And have a fan running nearby...just the movement of air should cool things down considerably.
And kudos to you, for waiting to get everything working just right before putting a live critter into the cage!

Re: cooling?
We're south and haven't gotten THAT hot yet, but I was thinking along the same lines of asking for cooling tips. 2/3 rooms w/snakes have ceiling fans, and R's room (Kishnah and the rats) has a floor fan that I've set up.
What about putting cold towels around or on top? Would those help keep them cooler????
My other problem is that the days are getting to be 80-90+, but the nights are still getting cool enough that I've had a low of 78-9 one night. ....so I'm leaving the UTHs on for just a little longer.
Bleck.

Re: cooling?
a small 120 volt window ac unit, might be the best for the room/area the snakes are in. 115 deg. isn't good for you or your snakes.

It does, just not the second week in May. Where I live, we've managed to set 4 heat records this week! Thank goodness I got the AC out of the cellar the week before .
