It's that time of year again!

Let the shedding begin! Kylie my lab is in shedding. I tell ya, there's a carpet of hair in our garage and my room. I cleaned it up, and filled up half of a grocery bag, and filled up about 1/3 of an empty vacuum bag! So for those with dogs, or cats, it's that time of year to vacuum and dust your whole house, and realize it wasn't worth it! 'Cause 15 minutes later your carpet and furniture are covered in hair Gotta love the fur-kids!

I have a german shephard, I dont go through that at all. I have a shedding tool I purchased to use on him, it works nice this time of the year to rid him of that shedding coat. When I brush him this time of the year, it is done outside on our deck so I dont have to worry about getting hair all over the house.

I've tried a few combs, but nothing has worked. I'm gonna take her to the vet this weekend an see if they have an suggestions. She never gets bald spots from all the hair she loses, luckily.

Amazing how much Labs shed isn't it. Our first Lab was a 3/4 Lab, 1/4 Husky mix so on top of the normal (read "big") amount of Lab shedding she did, toss in a grey thick undercoat from her Husky bloodlines. I swear I could have saved up Shadow's spring shed and made a whole new freakin dog from it LOL.

Btw your neighbourhood wildlife will love all that shed fur. For years when we had white Shepherds we left their spring fur in the back of the yard and all the birds and other critters would collect it up. Amazingly pretty white fur lined birds nests for miles around LOL (my younger sister had to take a white fur lined nest in to school as the teacher didn't believe it until she saw it).

Haha....that's funny, Jo! We had a shepherd/chow mix and she also shed like crazy. We'd use the shedding comb on her outside, and I always wondered what happened to all those huge balls of fluff that would drift out across the yard.

I had a friend who's mom used a spinning wheel....and they raised collies. She would take their shed and spin it into collie-wool yarn. Pretty darn cool!
