    moving...best way to do it

As some of you may recall, I had some trouble finding time for my snakes earlier in the year and made arrangements to have them looked after. School is over soon, and I will be getting them back since I have 87 days of break (teaching has its perks!) and will not be taking on as many responsibilities next year. My question is this; I am moving into my new house the week after school is out, and am wanting advise on how to get my snakes there as stress free as possible. Both of them are doing fantastic, and haven't missed any meals. I have never moved them before (my friend who is caretaking for them stays with me now). I'm just hoping to make the move easy on them. Any advice?

How far are you moving? If it's just a cross-town move, here's what I would do:

Take the snakes out of their enclosures and put them in bags (pillowcases can work for this, but turn them inside out) and make sure they are secured...then put the bags in a box or small tub that is fully insulated against bumps, so the snakes are snug and their bags won't slide around.

Then I would take the tanks (or whatever enclosures you use) as-is...and the boxes of snakes...over to the new house. Set the tanks up and make sure everything is working right...then put the snakes right back in. And I'd probably cover the tanks with a sheet or something to help "guard" the snakes from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the move going on around them.

    If you're going cross-country, it's a little more complicated...
