1st Spring Herping Trip of 2006 (DU Warning)

I set out today on my first herping trip of 2006. I went to a near by Texas State Park, in hopes of seeing some nice herps.

I arrived a little too late for my liking, around 2:00PM and 90* outside. I ran across several lizards, but no snakes

It was still nice to get out and take some nice pics. Here are a few pics...enjoy.

    Thirsty Lizard!

    Peek-A-Boo Skink!

    Bluebonnets and Cactus

    Flowering Cactus

    Texas Cliffs:

Maybe I will have some snakes to show on my next outing!

Great pics! Is that a skink or a racerunner?

Your right. On second look, I too believe it is a racerunner. It looks a lot different when not running verticaly up a cliff!

....racerunners are cool lizards. One of the fastest critters that I have ever seen. We really don't have alot of them in North Louisiana, but I have seen a couple here and there.

What is that lizard in the first pic?

I am not a lizard expert by any means, but I think it is a type of collard lizard. They are pretty common around here.
