    Good ole' Louisiana Herpin'....(DU warning)

Found the first snake of the year for me today (actually 2 but the other kingsnake was gone in a blink of an eye ).......and it was a great one. A beautiful speckled kingsnake......it gave me a very nice tail 'rattle' and everything. I saw another box turtle and a nice looking skink too.....not bad for a 30 minute walk, huh? Here are the pics:

....ya pretty much. We have a nice patch of wilderness behind our apartment. I usually go for walks back there to clear my head....and I always make sure I bring the camera

....when I take a little trip to go herpin' I will let you all know I have a couple of spots around here that I know that I am going to check out before the end of Summer.

    That king is gorgeous!

I just learned that one of my new favorite snakes, the rosy boa, is like totally native to where we live here! (like...duh) And....pacific rattlesnakes and cali kings...but dang! I must find someone to show me the ropes of herping!

Awesome Daniel! ... I've found that observing herps in the wild has only made my captive husbandry better! ROCK ON!
