Heating opinion needed
I am a pretty new python owner. I have my juvenile bp in a 20L enclosure. I have a large uth on one side (85 degrees) and a small uth on the other (92-93 degrees). As of now I have two rheostatic thermostats on the viv. I am going to order a Johnson Controls device with night drop feature (http://www.reptilebasics.com/store/p...at=250&page=1). I already have one controlling the heat for Molly the snow corn. My question is this: should the new thermostat control the cold side and if so what day/night temps or should it control the night side with what recommended temps. I can work it out either way. To head off the inveitable question, I plan to buy another thermostat when I can afford it.

Re: Heating opinion needed
I would prefer to have the t-stat control the hot side of the tank, because to my way of thinking, getting too hot is more dangerous than getting a little too cool. But that's just me, others may think differently. If your temps are already holding steady with both rheostats, then it probably doesn't make a huge difference where you plug the first t-stat in.
As for the night drops, you don't need any. Just keep the temps the same 24/7.

Re: Heating opinion needed
We have thermostats on both sides, under the hides to control cool side and warm side temperatures; a CHE is connected to the warm side t-stat, so it turns on when the warm side UTH turns on, which helps maintain tank ambient air temp to 80ish as well.
