Humid Hide question

Ok so I think I am just gonna go with a perm. humid hide in Ozzy's cage.
I have scaned past posts on the hides.
Which do most of you who use humid hides do, cut the hole in the top or in the side??
Seems moss is the prefered substrate.

I was gonna get another gladware bowl just like his other hides and put it over by his warm hide. So he won't prefer one over the other other than when he feels the need for humidity.

How does that sound???

I like holes in the side for humid hides ... since warmer air rises and the condensation will form at the top of the container ... you'll loose less water with a side hole.

I don't leave humid hides in "permanently" ... it's good enough just to put the humid hide in when then animal is blue and then remove it when the shed is complete. Keeping a constantly wet/damp object in the cage all the time isn't really a good idea because of bacterial and mold growth.

Hey thanks Adam.
I just have had trouble keeping humidity up especially when the heat is on.
But shedding is my main concern or when I am on Vacation or away for the weekend and not here to mist.
You have seen my set up and I would love to lose the lights but need them to keep the temps up because winter it is a very cold house

Higher humidity is most important when the snake is in shed ... the rest of the time you'd be surprised at how tolerant they are ... I'd rather have lower humidity during times when the snake is not in shed than a wet humid hide in my enclosure 24x7.
