rosy boa (hoping) to be dropping babies soon.....
I have been searching and searching for info regarding breeding info on mex. rosy boas......I thought the info would be easy to find, but it wasn't!!!! Thank you to everyone who gave me a few links. I have been looking for awhile, and after my exhausting search, only one out of my many questions remain unanswered. However, tricky part is, many of the sites are conflicting with each other. For example, one site says gestation is four months, while another says 18-20 weeks, and so on. I needed specific time frames!!! Oh well. Anyways, for those of you who are interested in breeding and keeping these guys, I found rosyboas.com (go figure) to have the most helpful (and logical) information. So, after my search, and estimating the time (not exact) of conception, I am pretty sure the babies will be coming this month....and she sure shows it!!! Another conflicting issue was that some sites siad feed the mother frquent but small meals(which is what I've been doing),and even give supplements, while another said not to feed her at all the whole preganacy!!!! I'm sorry, but this is a very important subject!!! I used logic and what made the most sense to me, because she has had a ravenous appetite the whole time! I have made preparations, and given her her own cage since, kinda what i call her "nursery cage" with nice soft bedding and extra heat, plus a semi-transparent hide so i can keep an eye on her at all times without disturbing. The time is drawing near....hope to witness the birth and even video it..........here are some pics to satisfy your photo hunger....
look at that belly!!!
what a happy expectin' momma!
This shot was taken about 10 days ago.... can't really tell how chunky she is from the pic though...she's even chunkier now.......

She certainly is glowing! Such an elegant little lady!
As for the accuracy of gestation...since you don't know exactly when she got pregnant, knowing exactly how long gestation is probably wouldn't help you much anyhow. There's only a couple weeks difference between saying 4 months or 20 weeks. LOL
In another thread, Peter (Goldenburm) posted a pic of a giant waxy yellow stool that is passed a couple of days before the boa drops. Maybe rosies have something similar you can watch for, just on a slightly smaller scale?
