    Angolan's (dial up warning)

I have to ask, why aren't angolan pythons more popular? It's not that different from a ball python...

This is a lousy picture from ReptileFest 2006, but still....how can you not drool over that?

Edit: My apologies to those with less than 1024 by 768, I didn't realize the picture was resized to be that large.

Price. A normal Angolan is still pretty expensive. I think they'll be a lot more popular once the price comes down and more CBB are available.

Edit: They're definitely on my "other species" short list!

They also grow considerably larger than BPs if I'm not mistaken (around 7'?)

They are lovely though.. just too much money for me now!

Angolans are great animals. As soon as I get enough 'extra cash' for a pair, they are mine I saw a bunch of babies at EbN a while back.....fiesty little suckers

They can hit 7', but from what I've heard it's usually around 5'.

I got a chance to hold this one over the weekend

    Re: Angolan's (dial up warning)

I love Angolan's and hope to have one one day....... but I do think part of the problem is price and I don't think a lot of people get exposed to them to often, Because once I saw one in person I definitly wanted one......

I Played With The Same Snake!!

Schlyne, I was at ReptileFest @ UIC too, and that same Angolan caught my eye and I spent some time with it's owner chatting and drooling over the snake.

I truly think in 5 years high-end Ball-Python morph's will start to level out and everyone will be looking for Angolans.

The other snake that got me thinking about what to put into one of my empty enclosures was the Black Headed Python a couple of rows over.

Genus aspidites pythons (black headed pythons and womas) are definitely another couple of snakes that will likely become popular pets once the price comes down. Awesome animals.
