    question

I am new to breeding and I recently bought a male 100% het albino BP and was wondering if there was any way to get an albino without buying one or buying a female het?

    Re: question

You would need a het albino female. A het only carries one copy of the albino gene. A snake needs two copies to actually look albino since albino is a recessive mutation. With two hets you have a 1 in 4 chance (for each egg produced) of producing albino.

    Re: question

Albinism is a simple recessive trait. Crossing a male het with a normal female will yield offspring that are 50% possible hets. That means that there's a 50% chance of each of the offspring carrying the albino gene. You would then need to raise them back up and cross them back to the original father. You then have a slim chance at creating an albino. This could easily be 4-5 year project before you see a visible albino.

After you figure in the cost of feeding, cleaning, racks, other equipment over that time period- it may be more economical to just save your money fand purchase an albino from an established breeder.
