Just what I wanted to see at 5:30 in the morning....

.....eeewww.......every morning before work, i go into the pet room check to make sure everybody has food, clean water, etc., and this is what I saw in my rosy boas' cage....

    eeeewwww!!!!!

It may be just my opinion, but I think BP's are much more modest when it comes to mating.. they at least have the decency to "lock it up" so no one has to see this...I mean c'mon guys ...take it in the hide or something will ya! geez!
This is the first time i am attempting to breed another snake besides BP's. I am still clueless, as this is a whole 'nother ball game. i have recorded several matings since they were first put together in Nov.Jewel, the female has also been getting noticably thicker, and has a ravenous appetite, although i have only been giving her small meals, as I am not 100% sure she is pregnant. is there anyone out there who has experience with rosies? My whole lunch break yesterday, everyone at the table was asking questions i did not know the answer to. some questions i have:
    1. if she is already pregnant, why would JR still be mating with her? isn't there some kinda signal or somehting that would tell him to "leave her alone she's already pregant"?
    2. i thought females don't eat while gravid/pregnant....is this a false staement? she seems to be hungry all the time.....when were talking about it at lunch, we were comparing them to mammals...ya know, the whole eating for two, or three, or seven....
3.i do know the obvious, separate them...which I will do , but is there something special or a special way i should set up the cage in preparation for the arrival of babies? and would she eat the babies if I don't separate her from the babies immediately after birth?
    4. special care for the pre natal/post natal mom?????
    5. care for the babies????
I feel like an idiot.....this is totally different than breeding BP's.Jewel has been gaining weight and getting thick and "lumpy" around the middle. besides the ravenous appetite, she has been getting restless and a little "touchy" recently...oh and she just shed five days ago.
    more pics...
JR in love.....courting Jewel immediately after their introduction.....

Jewel...casn you see the thickness of her last 2/3 of the body? If you saw her inperson...the pics are kinda hard to tell.....

Sorry this is so long!! ...anyone know the gestation on these guys as well???# of babies to expect????? Thnaks

I would think you'd be excited. As least you know it's not for lack of trying on their part. I wish you the best of luck getting some eggs and info, but not in that order.

Do rosies lay eggs? I would have guessed them to be live bearers like other boas. Either way, definitely time to hit up Google and any other resources you can think of. I'd help, but don' know nothing about birthin' no baby snakes!
