Re: What of Tegu is this???
Okay I'm definately no tegu expert, but if I had to guess I would say it's a Gold Tegu, which is (I believe) a kind of Colombian tegu; it's just smaller and has a different skin color. Colombian tegus are also known for being more agressive than their Agentiene counterparts, though of course handling makes a huge difference in temperment. thetegu.com has fantastic info on these guys if you need to know more

Re: What of Tegu is this???
Looks like an Argentine Black and White Tegu. They are most relatively good to tame down with a bit of steady handling, and a good pair of heavy leather gloves. Looks nice and healthy!

Re: What of Tegu is this???
It looks nothing like an argentine B&W to me (and I've seen quite a few).. I would also say colombian tegu. Worst of the species for a pet for the most part.. typically aggressive.

Re: What of Tegu is this???
I still say Argentine B&W. I've got a buddy with a pair and they look identical to that. After a bit of work his are puppydog tame.
Here's a link from EbN on Argentines:

I definitely see the similarities.
She's definitely a youngster still...they can hit 3-4'.

Re: What of Tegu is this???
A friend of mine keeps and breeds argenting tegus and if this link shows up it will show his male.http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...php?t=77715.It sounds like this one you have might be a black and white tegu as they are normaly mean.Argentine tegus are normaly dog tame with the exeption of they teen age years.Notice the lines next to the eyes and the placement of the nostrils in the link pic.Bobby told me this shows the differance from the b&w tegus.Ihope this helps

Re: What of Tegu is this???
There are two teugs called 'black and white' the argentine (normally easy to tame) and colombian.. (nasty little *bleeps*)
I am sticking with saying colombian. It has the head shape of one.. argys have a different head shape.
It's definitely not a blue or red tegu, so it's one of the black and whites.. my vote will remain colombian! I will say that I have not seen too many young argys.. it would have to be a young male or a smaller female if it's an argy. Adult male argys develop amazing jaw musculature that is unmistakable.
EDIT I would also like to add these pictures for comparison. Notice the different pattern in the argentines. They always have the dark band on either side running from their ear back. Colombian tegus do not have this. Also note the head shape.
