    Clockwork Orange Boa

My favorite film is A Clockwork Orange directed by Stanley Kubrick. In the film, Alex, the main character has a pet Boa which he keeps in his drawer. I wanted to know if anyone had an idea of what kind of Boa it is. It would have died if it was in fact taken care of the way Alex did but it's just a movie.

No idea, but here's a screenshot for somebody who might know. Yeah, not the best of husbandry there, Alex. Poor Basil! Not even a water dish!

ok i'm a HUGE fan of that movie

named my ball python after that snake

but heres something interesting about why alex has the snake

in the book he doesn't have the snake, however kubrick had heard that McDowell was afraid of reptiles so when they started production he decided he wanted to freak him out or something and thats why in the movie he has a snake, but the joke was on him cause McDowell loved snakes and was happy to have a snake there

Yeah I've read about that, I thought it was funny too.

What does BCI mean? Looks like a red tail to me but I don't know much about Boas.

Definitely a BCI but it looks like one of the darker locales. Like El Salvador maybe? Or maybe its just a dark screenshot. Who knows...

    Re: Clockwork Orange Boa

BCI means Boa Constrictor Imperator, which is the scientific name for the "common red tail" or Columbian Boa. BCI's are not only found on Columbia though, as Jamie pointed out. That one looks like it may be from a different region.

"True red tails" are BCC... Boa Constrictor Constrictor.
