styrofoam incubator?

Would those styrofoam insulator/ cooler things work for an incubator is set up properly? Or would it melt, not hold humidity...?

I've heard of using old refrigerators and such, but not the styrofoam. I think it's probably possible, but I would prefer to have the sturdiest material possible to incubate my precious eggs. I'm very interested in these incubator threads, as I am looking to get one myself. I'm leaning toward something along the lines of Nature's Spirits Incubators, because well.... I'm a big doofus when it comes to build stuff like that.

Im really interested as well... i will probably make the diy incubator on glassreptiles, unless i can get my hands on a non-working minifridge. But if anyone has had success with something else that is somewhat cost efficiant, let me know!

Mini fridges work great as they are already perfectly insulated. I used the one I describe in that link because it was the easiest for me to get at the time and I felt good about the fact that the proper humidity could be provided by a cooler full of water. It worked perfectly and I had no denting of the eggs until they pipped. Best of luck and feel free to contact me with questions. By the way, that incubator cost me about $40 total to make.

Exactly. If you are putting the incubating container inside a room/fridge/etc then styrofoam is fine. I have heard of people using sytrofoam coolers although for the most part they are cheap and I would rather use a coleman insulated cooler.
