    Good Morning Emi!

Had to snap these shots of sleepy Miss Emi happily curled up in her tree early this morning. She's our daughter Beth's pride and joy and such a lovely looking snake that she almost seems unreal.

    Morning Miss Em!

    Whatcha want? I was sleeping!

Emi just shed (each shed she gets more tangerine in color)

Beth the very proud owner. She did Emi's tank herself and I think she did a great job on her first tank setup ever.

Beth is currently saving and watching for a nice normal het for albino male milksnake to be Emi's eventual mate. She loves Gomez's set up so much she's considering a similar idea for the male milk (the normals are tri-color - black, red and white....a major difference in color to what Emi is but still an eyecatcher!).

I love the picture of Beth showing off her tank. She should be very proud.

How cute. Emi is just so adorable, and Beth did just a wonderful job on her cage.

Gomez is spreading the gothy Addams love. So cute! I love what she did with Emi's tank, and what a cute lil snake and a proud young snake owner! That second pic is too adorable, but I'm always partial to peeky pics.

    Re: Good Morning Emi!

Thanks everyone! Beth is doing very well with Miss Emi (whose name is Chinese and means "blessed with beauty" - Beth even has the chinese symbol for Emi on her tank). It's very hard to get decent photographs of the little wiggle worm though unless Beth is holding her still. I have a tons of pics of "this is where Emi used to be", "flash of orange going through the substrate", "if you look close you might see her tail tip" LOL

If anyone is interested here's a beautiful example of the normal (non-albino) appearance of the Nelson's Milksnake aka Nelsoni Milksnake (lampropeltis triangulum nelsoni). It came from an educational site so I hope it was okay to post it here.

    Re: Good Morning Emi!

Hey Jo, when you get a minute, can you post a full frontal picture of the tank so we can see the whole thing up close? =)

    Re: Good Morning Emi!

Hope these work Cass, I'm certainly not a great digital photographer by any means LOL.

    Emi's tank

    Closeup of the tank

Basically Beth got one of those aquarium backgrounds that just slide into the outside back of the tank (tried for one that looked not too "fishy" lol), then a nice silk rose trellis thing from WalMart (pink of course to show off pretty Miss Em), deep aspen for burrowing in, two small cream cheese containers for hides, her rock arch, climbing/sleeping tree & heavy small water dish (pet store purchases) and for those with good eyes lol....you'll see a heat rock in the left hand side tucked under some silk leaves....a heat rock sans cord...only good, safe use for them in our opinion. Typical Emi, she's snuggled under her aspen somewhere (sometimes I panic since I can't see her easily!). She rarely ever uses her hide entrances...she prefers to go under the substrate and up inside the hide like a beaver entering its' lodge lol.

Emi seems to really like this busy environment with very little open ground space. She burrows, climbs, etc. to her hearts content and is a very laid back milk for one so young (she's about 7 months old now). She's only musked the one time and never nipped though she is the typical young colubrid - wiggle worm!
