caresheets for a western hognose?

Right now we have a western hognose in a 10g cage, she's about 10 inches long(still skinny) and i was wondering about the temps, humidity, and the substrate. Right now she is really active during day, during the day she will pop out and wander around and at night she stays burrowed . right now we have about 1.5 -2 inches of the aspen, is that too much? Is there any other substrate we should try out instead of the aspen? Right now there is a UTH and a lamp, we have the UTH connected to a dimmer switch and we had to the temps on the warmside about 88F(using acu-rite probe, above the substrate) and i forgot what the cool side was, i think 72-74F, but that was when we used the night light bulb, now we have the day time bulb(night time one blew out) so the temps prolly went up. we have the lamp in the middle, we have a hide on the cool side and one in the right side, but she barely uses them and stays burrowed instead and the water dish on the cool side's corner. Is there anything we should change in the tank? or anything else you suggest? i couldnt fine a caresheet here so yall know of any good ones?

We're currently working on updating and adding to our caresheet collection. Of course, that doesn't help you much, yet. LOL I'd answer your questions, but I don't know anything about their husbandry. If I were in your shoes, I'd google it and read as much as I could find...trying to glean the best info from all the different opinions you're sure to come across.

two things i've experienced with western hognoses that differ slightly from the third sheet.
1. i think lizard litter is a better substrate for these guys... it's more like their natural ground cover and my guy loves to tunnel around in it.

2. 40% humidity is not needed... mine's quite a bit lower with no problems, even in shed.

the hoggy i keep isn't even mine, this is the second one i've cared for that didnt belong to me, but i'd say all in all they are the easiest to care for that i've ever seen.

i've also read, and heard from the breeder my snake came from, that these snakes do best if you don't let temps go below 76.

i think they have a grown pair of them at my local petstore... both are dark grey in colour and in the same tank. can they co-habitate or should they be kept separate? my first instinct is to separate them.

i'm concerned about getting any snakes that musk... is this something they do often or just when they are really frightened?

hoggies don't usually musk... they puff up and hiss, then they play dead, then they musk. i've never seen a captive hoggy musk, they usually do the cobra mimick a lot when they're young and mellow out really fast so when they're adults you usually have to purposely scare them to even get them to puff up.

just make sure you get WESTERN hognose... unless you like tedious things like scenting and other feeding problems.

turns out they aren't hognose... they are pine snakes???
