Went out in the woods today....(DUW)

No snakes again....but wait til middle March The temps were around 84 deg. today so I did spot a few other critter though. Let me know what you think of the pics.

There were a bunch of Anoles out today.

A neat pic of some frog eggs. I found these sacs everywhere today. Hopefully we don't get another cold front....cause if it stays warm...lots of frogs this year...which means lots of snakes

Here is a fence lizard that I found under a piece of tin in open ground(???)....I was hoping for a timber rattler but I will settle for this girl. She was skinny, damp and dirty...maybe she was trapped under there?...It is too early for eggs so that is out... neat find anyways I caught her and put her on a tree out of the wet sand.

Very cool! I'm with April...I never find stuff like that when I'm actually looking for it....but every once in a blue-moon, I'll see some pretty neat wildlife around here. Just never when I have my camera around! LOL

man, today it was 40 and rainy and tomorrow it will snow.. again.
i need to move somewhere more herp friendly. we only have one species of lizard... a skink that's near-impossible to find in the wild and it's very rare to see snakes, other than garters and northern water snakes, or any amphibians other than frogs here. sigh.......

Re: Went out in the woods today....(DUW)

Thanks. I know what you all are talking about with pics. I have made a pact with myself to bring the camera everytime I go in the woods this year. I used to spot snakes all the time, but either they are still in for the winter or I am having some bad luck. I saw a few leopard frogs today too....but they were too quick for me to get shots of...

Anoles are so underrated. I guess because they are so common around homes that I am guilty of sometimes just passing them by without thinking how cool they are. I have not spotted any around the house yet....these were out in the middle of the woods, so it was pretty cool to see them in more of a natural setting.
