    i got a corn!

i finally got a cornsnake. i was originally getting a corn for my son for his birthday... when i fell in love with balls... and then he changed his mind and didn't want a snake... and yet, the corn bug bit me too... so...

    i got a corn! he's a true bloodred ... very very pretty.

so he's all set up in his new viv. he's approx 2 months old and eating 2 live pinkies per feeding. i'm not all that crazy about multi items per feeding... i'd rather feed him more often (like every 4 or 5 days one pinkie rather than 2 pinks every week)

what do you all think about that?

edited to add: and we need a name for this little guy. any suggestions?

    Re: i got a corn!

Oohhhh, that's some intense color!! Beautiful!

Personally, I don't have a problem feeding multiple prey items. Given the unique digestive system that snakes have, I wouldn't want to feed any more often than once a week, unless there was some specific medical reason to do so. But that is not an expert's opinion....just mine from lots of reading and observation.

A name....??? Hmmmm....how about Sparky? Because he looks fire-engine red.. LOL

    Re: i got a corn!

Here's a great site for naming all sorts of pets with a search engine in it.

    http://www.petnamesworld.com/

Hmm well since he's blood red and all that...how do you feel about a vampire sorta sounding name (Bram Stoker or Anne Rice type thing). I'm not really into that stuff myself but some of the names are pretty cool (Lestat comes to mind).

Wow he's a lovely bright color! Very nice!

    Re: i got a corn!

Congrats on the beautiful new corn snake! Be careful though....those little guys/gals are just as addictive as anything else. I found out the hard way....bought one and within about a week just had to get another one, lol.

    Re: i got a corn!

Malachi's a great name LOL (or Malachy). It means "my angel" in a few ancient languages (the celts, hebrew, etc.). It's also the name of Saint Malachy (1094-1148) of Ireland who is said to have prophesied the names of all the future 112 Popes until the "final tribulation".

Just a wierd bit of trivia.
