    First real snake bite

Well I got my first really good snakebite today, I had my corn snake Ruby out just like 10 minutes ago, i was holding her in my arms and she went down my shirt, then worked her way down to my pants by my belt loop. I tried to get her but she quicly slipped her head under and through it, i think she felt trapped so she tried to go back, so she went back in again, so now there were two loops of her body in my little belt loop (so she was really stuck) i tried to very gently help her out but she obviously didnt apreciate my help. Before i knew it she had my finger in her mouth. It was all over in like 5 seconds, she let go,i started bleeding, i took my pants off and let the little butthead crawl out on her own in the bathtub

So i guess the moral of the story is, dont let your corn snakes get near those belt looops, you will end up with a bloody finger !

LOL....I was thinking the same thing! In any case, I can't imagine it's a good idea to let any snake explore the inside of your clothes. Just think what else it could bite!?!

hehe. My mom's only snake bite was when my cali king went up her sleeve and got scared and bit her arm.

Just wait 'til your boa tags you.

Haha...Right on. I have yet to get my first bite yet (and hopefully I never will since I am pretty careful) but I would have to say I would like it to be from a corn. I would least like it to be from the 37LB red tail. She got my fiance a few weeks ago on the elbow. She hates her tail being touched!

Why is it that snakes like to go where they shouldnt? Belt loops, wrapping themselves around every cord in sight and jamming their bodies in the smallest crack.

I know what you mean... I mine down on the counter for one little second to get something and then have to spend the next 3 hours or so taking apart my stove/oven to get her out, then putting it back together.... I've concluded that snakes do have emotions.. they love making us worry!

LOL i guess you are right adam ! but still, its the first time shes ever actually gotten me, she strikes and hisses but has never landed one, she got me pretty good actually, i can see the teethmarks pretty good.

I guess i will figure out what a "Real snake bite" feels ike when my little female boa gets bigger.....actually, no i dont plan on letting that happen, the corn biting me is fine but a 7-8-9 foot boa is not. lol im gonna start being more careful

I guess it was my fault for trying to get her out, i scared her and she just reacted.

    Re: First real snake bite

My 7' boa got me pretty good, but still it wasn't very painful, and after a couple of days I didn't really feel anything. It sure looked pretty though.

I get more painful bites from shih tzu puppies on a daily basis. The trick to not getting hurt bad from a snake bite is to remain calm and not pull away.

    Re: First real snake bite

Wasn't it Dave Barker that someone was telling me about that got bit by a retic in the calf and still has nerve/muscle damage years later? I would think THAT'S a real snake bite.
