Buying an Anaconda!
I'll be purchasing a baby male yellow anaconda from Bill of Great Valley Serpentarium. I've been reading up like crazy! Does anyone (Shelby) have any caresheets they'd like to suggest? I'm so excited! It'll be a few weeks before I get him because I want to make sure I'm completely ready. This is like my dream. I can't wait to get bit lots of times! lol

Re: Buying an Anaconda!
Yeah New York is not herp friendly. I thought even boa constrictors were banned.
The care sheet on NERD (newenglandreptile.com) is the best I've found.

Re: Buying an Anaconda!
Kelly you might want to review the following links to see what applies to your collection especially in view of your interest in obtaining an anaconda, though I'm not sure where your BCI fits into the current laws.

Re: Buying an Anaconda!
I think only the green anacondas are illegal but I could be mistaken. I think the law is either any snake 10 or 12 feet and greater is banned. I might be able to get around it because male yellows only get 6'-8'.
Nah, boas are fine. They sell them in pet stores all the time. Definitely don't see Burms in the stores anymore though! Lucky I may be moving out of state shortly lol Dang the state of New York and crushing my dreams. They wonder why everyone is leaving! If all else fails I'll just get a permit.

Re: Buying an Anaconda!
Just because pet stores sell them, doesn't mean they're legal.
I would wait until you move out of state, then buy your conda. Do some more research on them.. it'll be worth the wait for it to be legal.
Where are you moving if you don't mind me asking?

Re: Buying an Anaconda!
Boas are definitely legal. There were boas at the Western New York Herp show run by...us. I'm a member and was volunteering at the show that day so I definitely know they are legal lol
Pennsylvania for college, if I get accepted which I should know soon. The only restrictions they have are for some venemous snakes and some snakes native to the state.
