    Axanthic?

Could This be an axanthic? We know the owner of the pet shop where hes at and we asked him if it was for sale and he told us it was only $85. He called it an axanthic because the guy who had it before the shop, bought it from a breeder as an axanthic.

    Re: Axanthic?

If all of these guys truly believe that it is an axanthic, why has the animal changed hands at least 3 times in the $85.00 range (unless someone took a big loss which also raises suspicion)?

Unproven axanthics are selling for multiple times that price.

    Just some food for thought.

FWIW, if you believe that it's an axanthic and it's eating, for $85 why not just buy it and attempt to prove it out?

It may be a het for axanthic. but I would be leary in any case cause it is one of those he said she said deals and without paperwork or anything to verify the genetics of that animal, you just never know. Plus I dont see the guy selling an axanthic for so little, heck even if it were het for it, I dont see it selling for that little.

    Re: Axanthic?

The guy really doesnt know what the going price is for most of his snakes, the female I got was $100 and I know if I have bought it online it would have been alot more. The guy who originally had him got married and his wife hated snakes and he had him and my female in a tank in the basement and then decided to give them to the pet shop. The snake has no yellow in him hes really grey on his patternt and the pet shop guys say hes ugly. The guys also breeding het albino together and also breeding het pieds, I cant wait to see what he will sell those for.

It does have a silver hue to it but proving it out would be the key
