Need help/advice on Animal Plastic PVC T-10 heat set up for ball python

I have ordered The Animal Plastic T-10 (48x24x15) for my ball python. I am going to be using the 11" heat tape for belly heat, along with the radiant panel. My question is...does the radiant heat panel go on the same side as the heat tape....or the opposite side ....or in the middle?? Oh, and of course, yes, all will be monitored with a Herpstat.

My practice, when using both RHPs and some sort of heat from underneath, is to put them both on the same side. The heat tape will warm a smaller area that the RHP, but also they can be set so that neither one is doing all the work (which is really bad if only using heat tape, and kind of bad with an RHP since the top of the hides on that side will be too hot if the temp is decent under the hides).

In a cooler room, it might be best to put the RHP a little more toward center, so that it can also help keep the cool side from being too cold.

One nice thing is that RHPs are easily relocated as you dial things in.

What is the ambient temperature in the room where you're putting the enclosure?

How long of a piece of the 11" heat tape are you having installed in the enclosure?

I don't have anything to add to the above other than to say that it sounds like you have the ingredients for a first class set up. I look forward to seeing how you put it all together.

The room temp will stay 70 in the winter time & 75 in the spring/summer time. I assume the heat tape is 11" x 11". I have not received it yet from AP.

An ambient temp of 70*F in the winter is pretty cool. I would put the RHP in the middle and use it to maintain ambient temp at 78*F, then use the heat tape to create a basking spot on one side.

What size and which brand of radiant heat panel are you using?
