When I did rattlesnake relocations & educational talks with a few of them years ago, I said many of the same things. I even had a custom bumper-sticker that said "Many friends in low places".
Here's just a quick snip:
"Fortunately, out of the 7,000 to 8,000 bites that occur in the US each year, legitimate or not, only about five of them are fatal, often because victims don’t seek treatment. In fact, more people are killed by pet dogs than by venomous snakes. Far more. And hundreds more die from falling out of bed. In the most ludicrous comparison of all, more people are killed by vending machines falling on them than are killed by snakes in America, yet we fear snakes purely out of unsubstantiated social and psychological indoctrination. This may be proof that human beings crave something to fear, even if there’s no reason to."
So watch out for that nasty vending machine & be nice to all snakes!![]()
