Year of the Snake: January Highlights (including USARK ALERTS & UPDATES)

Shed some bad energy in the Year of the Snake!

USARK works tirelessly to shed light about responsible herpetoculure to legislators. We hit the ground running every January with loads of legislation to review. Plus, the first major reptile show of the year is always the Reptile Super Show in Pomona. The beginning of the legislative season, when state legislatures are the most active, always brings an abundance of bills and work. Additionally, loaded on top of state bills are local, federal, and international issues with regulatory proposals tossed in the mix. Every state is in session this year, and with the incoming new federal administration, it marks the start of the 119th Congress, which lasts for two years.

Be sure to view our current legislative ALERTS at the bottom of this newsletter.

Some of our work in January...
USARK in D.C. - Art with Paul from the National Aquaculture Association.
Phil with dedicated stakeholders Chad, Elisa, and Johnny at a
    PACFA meeting in Colorado.
Phil represented responsible reptile and other animal owners in Ashley, Ohio, to stop an overreaching ordinance. We appreciate the consideration of Mayor Lockhart and the Council.
USARK attended an important leadership conference that encourages meaningful collaboration among attendees spanning the pet world.
Lots of work on CITES, ESA, state bills, and other issues.
    Reptile Super Show - Pomona
Throughout the hustle and bustle of the show, you will always find show promoter and USARK Board member Ramy Guirguis (right) walking the grounds and socializing.
The show has two kinds of nurseries - plant and animal!

Phil and Bill WANT YOU to join USARK! (auction shot)
Thank you to all of our Pomona volunteers! We hope to see you again in June.
Remember, folks, a donut a day keeps the bad vibes at bay.
Thanks for the show fuel, Cal Zoo!
