    Unsure of sex help please

As most of you other members who have been around for awhile i have been unsure of the sex of my beautiful "female" cornsnake Ruby ever since i brought her home. I got her from a local breeder that i have become good friends with and she was probed as a female.....but i hear about people sexing snakes by looking at the lengths of thier tails and have always wondered if its true. I know if my breeder probed her everything should be correct and im good to go but i cant help but wonder after she figured out just recently that her female rosy boa Victor is actually a Victoria when she bred him/her

I just took ruby out and measured her tail and from her cloaca to the tip of her little tail its about 5 inches(measuring a corn snakes wiggly little tail is easier said than done). Ruby is one year old and i have some breeding plans for her(of course not any time soon). Can anybody tell me if this whole length of the tail sexing is true and if so do you think ruby is a Ruby or a Ruben ?

I don't believe that is an accurate way to sex snakes. I've vaguely heard about that, but I've never found any info to back it up. I thinking probing and popping are the only two sure ways to sex a snake.

    It is a myth.

There IS a difference, especially apparent in colubrids (much more than in boids) however, it is variable and you have to have several snakes of the same species to compare before you can venture a guess.. but that's it at best, an educated guess.
