    my tanks - dialup warning

i was going to respond to andrews post on his salties and realized i should give a warning for dial up sooo....

we have 10 tanks... the largest is our 210 and sits in our living room... beside it is a small salt water tank and then a 77 gallon cichlid tank is on the other side.

in our bedroom we have a 33 gallon blue crayfish tank, a 46 gallon cichlid tank and then a small 5 gallon with two firebelly toads in it.

i teach meditation classes in the living room and my students all say it's a wonderful atmosphere... the tanks are sooooo beautiful and the 'music' they make is relaxing indeed!

this is our 210 gallon - freshwater tank

and our 77 gallon in the living room as well

this 135 gallon is in the entrance way of our home and yes those are beautiful bismarck frontosas!

this one is 46 gallon and in our bedroom

and this one is in my kitchen/office - 90 gallon

i'm sooooooooooooo addicted to critters we have more tanks but this is all the photos i have for you!

Re: my tanks - dialup warning

well, if i could reach the bottom of the 210 it would certainly make the maintenance easier for me. my hubby has to climb onto the stand (which he made and yes we added a walk in closet below it in the basement to add additional support!) and take off his shirt so he can reach down and get to the filters to clean the in-flow sponges (as we put sponges on the intake flows to assist with keeping the tank cleaner) (the tank is 29" deep, 24" wide and 6 feet long)

the other tanks aren't hard to maintain at all. i pick one and do a huge water change on it... and the rest get a smaller 10-15% water change weekly. so every tank gets a big water change (40-80% depending on the needs of the tank) every couple of months.

i am a stay at home, homeschooling mom and work from inside my home because i just can't go out to work and maintain all the critters and tanks... it just simply cannot be done - but... oh man am i ever having a good time doing it!

Those are beautiful Aleesha! I am green with envy. I had a small tank last year that had gobies... I just love gobies, but like other fish I have tried to keep, they ended up dying. I think I was a bad fish Mom, cause unfortunately they all died.

Re: my tanks - dialup warning

i could be wrong... but gobies get big and they usually need cold water... so that could be part of your problem.

so many people think... i'll start with guppies, or goldfish... something easy. these are NOT easy fish. they are soooooo inbred that they die off really easy. we called the livebearer section in the store the "tanks of death" when i worked at my local fish store (lfs) and goldfish are the number one poopers of the fish world and need a minimum of 10 gallons per fish!!! so when someone puts a few of them in a ten gallon tank... and wonder why they die... well,... DUH!

if you want to get a little tank going and not have them dieing... get a group of danios. they are soooooooooooooooooo hardy! of course that means i get to pplay with your ferrets!

or you could invite me over and i can set up a tank for you! heehee

Re: my tanks - dialup warning

Unfortunately, 2 of our ferrets are very old, one does not play much anymore, the other deos a little, and the 3rd, he is only a few yrs old, and plays alot still..... you could play with him....

Might have to keep in mind getting you here to help start a tank for me sometie..hehehehe.

I had the gobies that stay little, the pea@@@@@ and bumblee bees. For the life of me, I just cannot keep fish alive...but I do have an african dwarf frog, seems he is the only one I can keep alive.
